I hope you all enjoyed the entra hour of sleep this weekend!! We had quite the eventful week at school with the red ribbon dress up days and Harvest Party. I will post pictures soon!
In social studies, we are finishing up our study on government. The students have been researching Alabama's statehood. This week, they will continue to work on the project in class. It is due on Friday, November 13th. I will also introduce a new project called The Great Debate. Each of the fourth grade classes will be given a branch of government to research. Next Friday, the students will debate which government is the most important in our country. Parents/guardians are welcome to join and watch this debate!!
We started a new measurement unit in math. We have discussed the two systems of measurement, and the kiddos are practicing using many different measuring tools to measure various objects around the classroom. We will begin learning about polygons, rays, line segments, etc. this week.
This is our last week of reading The Last Book in the Universe. The students will have a test on the entire book on Friday after discussing it in their literature circles. We will also discuss the book as a class and connect it to our lines of inquiry. The next book we will be reading is called The City of Ember. The books have not been delivered to the school yet, but we will begin reading it as soon as possible!
We will begin a new science unit this week as well. The students will be building cars as they learn about motion and design. This science kit is very hands-on and engaging!!
I will send home information on Friday regarding our field trip next week to Montgomery!! I know that the kids are really excited about this amazing opportunity. It is such a great trip to conclude our study on government.
Must Do's (due Friday, 11/6)
1. Reader's Notebook response
2. Flocab 11
Have a great day,
Ms. Bryant
